Virginia was born in 1899, the daughter of James Garrett and Lura Kirby. She is a great x3 granddaughter of Leonard M Garrett, Revolutionary War veteran and progenitor of this Garrett line.
She married at least twice, the first time at age 21 to Benjamin Franklin James. They divorced before 1930 and she remarried after 1936 to Thomas Jefferson Blackwell. Over her lifetime, she lived in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Arizona. Virgie passed away in 1985 at 85 years old, 25 years after Thomas.
