married by John McMurtry, JP James G. Phillips HLD Helen L. Douglas Janis was the first Chappie to ~port on this line which apparently extends onl~ three generations at this time. She showed her deceased husband's line to begin with .n1s 4th great grandfather DANIEL CHAPMAN ~ca1765 ca1835). He was on the Orange Courlty, NC census in 1790 and the Robertson Cou~y, TN census in 1820. Kathleen said he was bRlieved to have been born in Maryland and was pn the 1782 Tax List in Lincoln County, WV I have been Virginia then) and lived in Orange County during 1800 and 1820 census then moved to Robertson County, TN where probate records show he died 1847-48. His son THOMAS CHAPMAN was born November 3 1803 in Orange County, NC and he died March 20 1872. He is buried) in Marion County, IL. He married Rachael GARRISON, and from notation bt Kathleen, he may have married a second time. Rachael was apparently born July 22 1803 in Tennessee. Helen only gave us the name of Thomas and Rachel, so we are not sure they are the same. So far we have no dates or places from her. Her ancestor was an ELIZABETH CHAPMAN, daughter of Thomas and Rachel. Janis' line went through SUSAN EMILY CHAPMAN (18260r7 1850), another daughter of Thomas and Rachel, and Kathleen's line was through JOHN CHAPMAN born October 23 1837, a son of Thomas and Rachael. None of the Chappies furnished a family group record on Thomas so that we could compare these three decendants. We need to know from Helen Douglas if the dates and places fit your Thomas. If so, then you can add Daniel Chapman to your lineage.
