Horton was born in about 1816 in Derbyshire, England, United Kingdom. He was the son of Edward Gascoigne and Jane Mycroft.[1]
In 1841 Horton (age about 25) was employed as a Coal Miner in ALFRETON, Derbyshire, England.[2][3]
