Biography

The name "Gascoña" (or Vascoña) is a Spanish variant spelling for Gascony (Gasogne in French) and refers to a region, early established as a Duchy/Dukedom, straddling the western Pyrenees mountains to the Atlantic Ocean in what are today regions in Spain and France. The modern term "Basque" ("Vasco" in Spanish) has the same root and describes the people that have inhabited this region from early times (pre-Roman).
