Jonathan Gates was born on 22 Jun 1683, in Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts Bay Colony. He was the son of Simon Gates and Margaret (Barstow) Gates.
Marriage
Jonathan married Persis Shepherd on 27 Nov 1712, in Charlestown, Suffolk County, Massachusetts Bay Colony. [1].

Wife and son Jonathan to be executors, 12 May 1756: Assent and receipt of Joshua Biglo as attorney of son W'm biglo of ??? who maryed the within named Margaret. Receipt of John Johnson in right of wife Susanah. Receipt of Jonathan Moors in right of wife Sarah. 2 Mar 1757: Receipt of Adonijah and Persis Rice.
