Jonathan Gates married Abigail (Ball) Gates on 24 Jan 1788. He and his wife moved to St Albans, Vermont, in 1800.

Military Service

Jonathan Gates enlisted in the Continental Army on 16 May 1781, aged sixteen.[1]He enlisted for a three-year term as a Private in the Company of Captain Nehemiah Emerson in the 11th Massachusetts Regiment, commanded by Col. Benjamin Tupper.

Death and Burial

Jonathon passed away on 21 Jul 1838, and was laid to rest at the Greenwood Cemetery, Saint Albans, Franklin County, Vermont, United States.
