William Gatewood was born c. 1720 at Essex County, Virginia, a son of Henry Gatewood and Dorothy Dudley.[1]
This birth date is the estimated birth date proposed by Carol Gothberg.
William married in 1742 in Spotsylvania County, as her 2nd, to Ann (Ransone) Boswell, widow of John Boswell and daughter of (poss) Richard Ransom or Ransone of Gloucester County.[1]
William also lived in Albemarle County.[1]
Ransom Boswell and his wife, Mary, sold to William's brother, Peter Gatewood of Spotsylvania Co., on 3 Oct 1752, 100 acres for £40.[1]
William died after 1780 at Amherst County, Virginia.[1]
