VIRGINIA COLONIAL ABSTRACTS, Volume III by Beverly Fleet Genealogical
Publishing Co., Inc. Baltimore (1988) p. 192: Charles City County, Court
Orders 1655-1658
"p. 124 Abstract. Original entries cover five pages in the book. Deed Dated
17, Sept. 1657. This document is witnessed by the mark "CC" (CORNEL'
CLEMENTS) and the mark of "N" (NICH. GATLEY)
"There are numerous other abstracts in these records between the dates of 17
Sept. 1657 and 5 Sept. 1664. Examination of these depositions indicates that
NICHOLAS GATLEY came to the Colony of Virginia as an Indentured Servant of
Cornelius Clemence sometime prior to 17 Sept. 1657."
