Born by 1526, Thomas Gawdy was son of Thomas Gawdy of Harleston and his second wife, Rose or Anne, daughter of Thomas Bennett of Rushall. He had two elder half brothers, another Thomas Gawdy and Francis Gawdy. [1] He was educated at Inner Temple. [1]
By settlement dated 30 September 1548 he married Audrey Knightley daughter and coheir of William Knightley of Norwich. [1] They were parents of 3 sons and 4 daughters. [1]
He was returned to Parliament in October 1553 as member for Arundel in Sussex. [2] The second time he had a seat was in 1558 as member for Norwich. [3]
Thomas married again in 1567. His bride was Frances Richers daughter of Henry Richers of Swannington. They were parents of a son and 3 daughters. [1]
Thomas died on the 5th of November 1588 [1] and was buried at Redenhall in Norfolk. [4]
