DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with William by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with William:

William Henry Gay is a cousin of sorts who has been errantly included in this profile.

This family has been particularly difficult to verify due to (one)--the lack of actual documentation of birth, marriage and death dates, and (two)-- the many and often conflicting claims published or purported over the years. As a result, everyone is inspired to speculate--hm-mmm!!

Gay-5083 and Gay-1038 appear to represent the same person because: they share similar vital statistics, the same father, the same siblings and the same spouse, Frances Trent.

Hold off on this proposed merge....it appears to a case of statistical doppelgangers--two similar but unrelated individuals, OR a case of guesswork.

Due to the lack of solid documentation, many of the Bolling and related family claims are based on faith rather than facts. More research is due....

It is strange that there is a William Gay and a Henry William Gay, in this immediate family.
