Delos Minor Gaylord, son of Aaron Gaylord and Mary Mills, was born May 1, 1846. He passed away in 1862.
Sad word is death, and too, too frequent in this day of sorrow, strife and violence. Few can estimate the anguish and desolation that at this moment fills thousands of habitations. Silence now reigns among those who, a little while ago were busy and gay. Our household has been visited by the grim monster, and other hearts than our own have also been deeply pained by the sad and sudden occurrence.
M. DELOS GAYLORD, 16 years old last May, an apprentice in our office, died at our residence yesterday, (the 16th inst.). He was taken ill on Sunday night, with cholera morbus; but was not considered dangerously ill until a few hours before he died. He was the son of A. M. and Mary Jane Gaylord, of Lake City, in this county. His parents arrived about four hours after his decease, and to day had his remains conveyed to Lake City for interment.[1]
Very Sad.--A very sudden gloom was cast over our town on Tuesday by the very unexpected announcement of the death of M. Delos Gaylord. He was a young man loved and respected by all who knew him. His loss will be deeply felt by the people of Lake City. His sorely afflicted parents have our heartfelt sympathy.
How forcibly this sad occurrence reminds us, "That in life we are in the midst of death."[2]
