Biography

Walter Gaylord immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).

Walter Gaylord may have been born about 1626, which would make him around four years old when he sailed with his parents on the ship Mary & John in 1630, from Dorchester, England, to the New England wilderness which became Dorchester, Massachusetts.[1]

Walter Gaylord, son of William Gaylord, married (first) Mary Stebbins, daughter of Edward and Francis (Tough) Stebbing (or Stebbins), at Windsor, Connecticut on 29 April 1648.[1][2] Although Mary's father was a Deacon and resident of Hartford, the wedding was held at Windsor where Walter's father was a Deacon and resident.
