Walter Gaylord immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).
Walter Gaylord may have been born about 1626, which would make him around four years old when he sailed with his parents on the ship Mary & John in 1630, from Dorchester, England, to the New England wilderness which became Dorchester, Massachusetts.[1]
Marriages and Children
Walter Gaylord, son of William Gaylord, married (first) Mary Stebbins, daughter of Edward and Francis (Tough) Stebbing (or Stebbins), at Windsor, Connecticut on 29 April 1648.[1][2] Although Mary's father was a Deacon and resident of Hartford, the wedding was held at Windsor where Walter's father was a Deacon and resident.
Mary (Stebbins) Gaylord died 29 June 1657, eight days after the birth of Isack.[2]
Walter married (second) at Windsor, Sarah Rockwell, on 22 March 1659,[1] daughter of the 1630 Mary & John immigrants William and Susanna (Capen) Rockwell.[2] They had children:[2]
