James Gee was a Virginia colonist.

James Gee was born in 1694 in Surry County, Virginia Colony, the son of Charles Gee and Hannah (Drury) Gee. He was the brother of Charles Gee, Robert Gee, Elizabeth Gee, and James Gee.

James married Boyce Scott, the daughter of John Scott. They had the following children:

  1. Charles GEE.
  2. James GEE.
  3. John GEE died on 5 Oct 1739.
  4. Sarah GEE,
  5. Drury GEE,
  6. Henry GEE, and
  7. Elizabeth GEE.

On 10 Mar 1755, James Gee was appointed Justice of the Peace and Justice of the Sussex County Court. Later he was appointed Captain of the Militia and sheriff of Sussex.[1] Cpt. James Gee was a large landowner in Sussex/Prince George and in Northampton County, North Carolina.

James died on 5 Oct 1759 in Northampton. British Province of North Carolina.

James Gee - 8 Jul 1759/15 Feb 1760 - Son Charles Gee 439 acres he lives on in Prince George Co. bought from Christopher ADDISON and another tract of 175 acres in Prince George Co. known as "Howards" and 350 acres on north side of Jack's in Northhampton Co. North Carolina being part of 1000 acres. Son Drury Gee 250 acres in North Carolina called Ocameacky Neck and 158 acres in the low grounds of Roanoke River and joining the other lands being the lower half of a tract of 316 acres and 350 acres on south side of Jack's Swamp in Northhampton Co. North Carolina being part of 1000 acres.Son Henry Gee the 490 acres of land I live on and the adjoining lands and 382 acres on the south sid of Warrick Swamp in Sussex Co.Thomas Chappell, son of Susan Chappell, 158 acres in North Carolina on north side of Roanoke River being the upper half of 316 acres.John Bradly and Sarah Bradly his wife the use of a slave for life and then to my grandson, Gee Bradly, and my grandaughter, Sarah Bradly.Daughter Sarah Bradly. Daughter Elizabeth Gee.Granddaughter Boyce Gee, daughter of my son James Gee, decd., a tract of 183 acres in Prince George Co. between Joseph's Swamp and Warrick Swamp.Son Charles Gee.
Exors: Sons Charles Gee and Henry Gee.
Wit: Richard Carter, William Heeth Jr., Abraham Heeth, Thomas Young.

Albemarle Parish records show a Captain James Gee, aged 65, died 28 October 1759 (certified by Henry Gee).

was james a brother, not a son of Chapell? James's parents are younger than he is.

Not being able to read the sources and/or have you help, I am not certain of my work yesterday. Plus I was quite distracted.

I am wondering now about two separate James Gees that died in 1777, one the son of Chappell died at Valey Forge and the other sound Charles died on specific date, 1/12/1777 and what appears to be different month.

Do you think they are different
