John was the son of Jeremiah and Dorothy (Plaxton) Gee. When John was 2 years old, while his Mother was making doughnuts, he accidentally had the hot grease spill over him. The accident left him deaf and dumb. A couple of years later, one day he wandered off the farm and was kidnapped by the Indians. He couldn't yell for help. They had him for about 2 weeks before he was found and brought home. His father died when he was six years old. In 1871, he went to the school for the deaf and dumb in Bellville, Ont where he studied and learned shoemaking. While he was there he met Louisa Noyes who was also a pupil at the school. They were married in 1876.[1] They had six children. They moved to Cupar, Saskatchewan where some of the other family members had located. He raised his family there.
He passed away in 1938.[2]
