Biography

Charles Gee was born circa 1718, in Surry County, Virginia. Sussex County, Virginia was created by an act of the Virginia Legislature in 1754 when Sussex was taken from a part of the County of Surry. At the time of the American Revolutionary War, Charles was residing in Prince George County, Virginia, where he furnished material aid in the support of the Continental Army. [1]

Charles Gee is honored for his Patriotic Service by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution as DAR Ancestor #A043957. DAR records indicate that Charles Gee died circa 1784, in Prince George County, Virginia and that his wife's name was Mary Chappell. Applications for membership in the Society of the DAR have been made by the descendants of their daughters, Boice Gee, who married John Powell and Sally Gee, who married Timothy Rives. [2]

In the Will of Charles' father James Gee, dated July 8, 1759, and probated February 16, 1760, James names his son Charles Gee and the plantation where he lives in Prince George County, containing 439 acres and also 174 acres known as "Howard's" in Prince George County, and 350 acres on north side of Jack's Swamp in Northampton County, North Carolina.
