Biography

Jane Gemmell / Gemmill was born about 14 Feb 1778 in Ayrshire, Scotland.

Jean married James Reid on 21 December 1805 in the parish of St Quivox, Ayrshire. ^[1]

The couple had six children::

According to one source ( http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=fromwhencewecame&id=I0377) , Jane migrated from Scotland, departing from Glasgow, Scotland and arriving in New York on May 24, 1843 with her son, daughters, and grandchildren.

Jane died on 23 Oct 1851 in Tiffin Seneca County, Ohio, United States and was buried in Kruger Cemetery, Liberty Center, Henry County, Ohio.^[13] Her page is linked to several of her children, but not her husband.

Some sources state she died Oct 23 1881, age 103 in Wood County, Ohio. Another source (The History of Henry and Fulton Counties) states that she died on October 23, 1831 -- presumably in Scotland.
