Geoffroy died after November 991[3] and before 997, when the comte de Gâtinais was Gauthier. [1]
Research Notes
There are several speculations on who the father of Geoffroy might have been (Aubry, viscount of Orléans; or Gautier I, comte de Vexin; or a son of Geoffroy de Gâtinais or Geoffroy himself).
"Both of the names Geoffroy and Gautier appear in the counts of Amiens, Valois, and Vexin which provides a very plausible origin for count Geoffroy (II) of Gâtinais." [1]
"While this scenario rests to a large degree on conjecture, it has the advantage of plausibility." [1]
Stewart Baldwin proposes several conjectural fathers for Geoffroy, with the most plausible being the son of Gautier I. [1]
On MedLands this would correspond to Godefroy, son of Gauthier d'Amiens[4], and also to Geoffroy de Château-Landon[3].
