Biography

Henry was born in 1876. Henry Gerrard passed away in 1944. [1]

In 1881 Henry aged 4 was living with his parents Edwin aka Edmund and Elizabeth, and older brother Edwin age 6 at 49 Huntingdon St, Islington. His first job was a Machine Minder for a Printer in 1891 & still living at home, a year after his marriage on 26 December 1898 to Lucy Jane EDGHILL (at St thomas, Thornhill square, islington) he was trading as a Greengrocer & Fruiterer and living with his wife and new born son Horace George at Bon Marche, Hertford Road, Edmonton.

By 1911 he and Lucy had 5 little boys having lost 2 girls after Horace's birth although they were expecting Dora that year. Edwin was now trading as a motor car body builder in premises in Camden Town. He and Lucy were registered on the Electoral Register at 186a Camden Street both also being noted as residing at 42 Park Avenue, Wood Green. The unborn Dora was to become the Company Secretary and joined most of her siblings working at Crawley Body Motors Ltd. for many years.

Horace became Managing Director after Henry's death and most of the sons specialised in various skills related to the Auto- mobile trade. The Company was well known as it specialised in mostly luxury cars.
