This profile is part of the Gerard Name Study.
Cross of St George
Sidney (Gerrard) Wynn was born in England.
European Aristocracy
Sidney Gerrard was a member of the aristocracy in British Isles.

Sydney Gerard, daughter of William Gerard, Lord Chancellor of Ireland,[1][2] married Sir John Wynn, 1st Baronet. They had 10 sons and two daughters. [3]

Sir John Wynn, 1st Baronet of Gwydir Castle, and Sydney's 12 children included Sir Richard Wynn, 2nd Baronet, and Sir Owen Wynn, 3rd Baronet.[4]

Sidney (Gerard) Wynn died in 1632.[4]

Research Notes

William Gerard, Lord Chancellor of Ireland (1518–1581)[4] is sometimes confused with William Gerard of Lancashire (died before 1567) who married Constance Rowson.[5]

  2. William (died 1581) is shown as William Gerard I in the title of his biography posted by History of Parliament Online. I cannot tell if that was contemporary or not. HOP has biographies for two other William Gerards: William Gerard II, William I's cousin, son of James Gerard, and William Gerard III, son of William II. My impression was the numbers were to differentiate them in HOP, but they may have been used to differentiate them in life also. (His Wikipedia article just calls him "Sir William Gerard", no number.)

note:

Birth in Wales, 1554, is plausible, based on her father's Wikipedia article, which says he was "Attorney General for Wales in 1554".

Death in Caernarvonshire is likely, considering her husband "John Wynn of Gwydir, Caern." was MP for Caernarvonshire (per his History of Parliament Online biography).

updated with correct WikiTree ID for mother (Dorothy Barton-3069) & correct parents attached (Dorothy & William Gerard-614)

based on the History of Parliament biographies for her father (William, Lord Chancellor of Ireland) and husband, I'll be changing her parents to Gerard-614 and his wife Barton-3069 later today (from Gerrard-293 and Rowson-5).

posted by Liz (Noland) Shifflett
Her parents should be Sir William Gerard-614, Lord Chancellor of Ireland, and his wife Dorothy, as per sources cited.
