William's marriage to Elizabeth Harrison was registered in the district of Wigan in the second quarter of 1889. [4]
Elizabeth, however, died at the age of 21 only a year later. [5]

In 1871, William was living with his parents, Joseph (b1829, Abram) and Isabella (b1830, Hindley) Gerrard and 4 siblings, Jane (b1861, Hindley), Paul (b1865, Hindley), Ellen (b1867, Hindley) and Joseph (b1869, Hindley).
In 1881, William was again living with his parents, Joseph and Isabella Gerrard and 4 siblings, Paul, Ellen, Joseph and Emma (b1872, Hindley).
In 1891, William was still living with his parents, Joseph and Isabella Gerrard and 3 siblings, Ellen, Joseph and Emma.
The Marriage record shows that on 21 Jan 1892 at All Saints Ch, Hindley, William Gerrard, a 29 yo Carpenter and Bachelor of Hollins Farm married Eunice Taylor, a 24 yo Dressmaker and Spinster of 61 Ladies Lane. The Groom's Father, Joseph Gerrard was a Farmer and the Bride's Father, Henry Taylor (deceased) was a Stonemason and contractor. The Witnesses were Joseph Gerrard and Martha Ellen Taylor.
