Biography

Malcolm is the child of William Gibbs and Harriet Pierce. ^[1]

Mark Asbell, San Antonio, TX, 1997: Malcolm G. Gibbs graduated from George Washington University, Washington, D.C. in 1902 with a degree of Doctor of Pharmacy. In 1938 he was given a Distinguished Achievement Award by that university. Malcolm worked in a drug store in Washington, D.C. When the owner died, he borrowed money [possibly from his father-in-law, Henry M. Foote] and bought the store. In 1953 his business had grown to 152 stores in 7 states and the District of Columbia with a business of $5,000,000 per year. Dr. Malcolm Gibbs's chain of drug stores were known as "Peoples Drug Stores" [bought by CVS ca 1990].^[2]
