Biography

Gregory Gibbs immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).
This profile is part of the Gibbs Name Study.

Gregorye Gibbes was baptized on 16 February 1623/24. Crewkerne, Somerset, England, son of Gyles Gibbes.

The 1660 will of Katherine (Carwithe) Gibbs demonstrates that she was the step-mother (not birth mother) of Gregory. Additional data supports this.

He was born about 1625 (four years before his father's marriage to Katherine Carwithe) -- (to be apprenticed five years in 1641; certainly an adult in 1649.

He married after 1676 Joyce (Smith) Osborn, widow of James [evidence not seen, but so stated in Windsor History 2:287].
