When Heman E. Gibbs was born on June 15, 1755, in Sharon, Connecticut, his father, Job, was 31 and his mother, Sylvia, was 24. He married Sally Gemima Elmer in 1775. They had two children during their marriage. He died on May 22, 1853, at the impressive age of 97, and was buried in his hometown.
Page 328: SALLY GEMIMA ELMER, oldest daughter. "My father's oldest sister's name was Sally Gemima Elmer. She married Samuel Gibbs, and became the mother of two children, Samuel E. Gibbs and Sally Gibbs. Samuel raised his family in E. Nassau, N.Y., but died in Troy, N.Y. Sally eventually married the Captain of a vessel on the North river." [Abba M. (Elmore) Wainright].
