Biography

Sylvanus, son of Benjamin and Ann Tupper Gibbs, was born at Sandwich on April 20, 1702.[1] He and Bathsheba Pope were married there on July 5, 1730;[2] the births of nine children were recorded at Sandwich. From legal records, it appears Sylvanus supported them as a mariner.[3]

He died in December of 1749[4], possibly at sea. His daughter Deliverance was born posthumously.
