"Ruben" Gibson, the son of Timothy and Rebecca Gibson, was born at Sudbury, Middlesex, Massachusetts, on 14 Feb 1724/25.[1]
Reuben Gibson of Lunenburg and Lois Smith were married on 13 Nov 1745/46 at Sudbury.[1] Reuben's home, built in 1744/46, stood on the West side of Pearl Hill just beyond the junction with High Rock Rd.[2] Lois and Reuben had to following children:[3]
During the Revolutionary War, Reuben Gibson of Fitchburg was a sergeant in Capt. Ebenezer Wood's company of Minute-men, in Col. Asa Whitcomb's regiment, which marched in response to the alarm of April 19, 1775; marched April 19, 1775; returned April 29, 1775; service, 11 days.[4]
Although he only served in the Revolutionary War as a sergeant, and only for a short time, he was called Captain because of his service in the local militia.Watt-266 18:36, 26 May 2014 (EDT)
Reuben died on 27 July 1800 at Fitchburg and is buried at the South Street Cemetery in Fitchburg.[5] You can see a picture of the double gravestone he shares with his wife at FindAGrave.
Reuben's Will was dated 13 Mar 1797, filed 13 Aug 1800 and allowed 2 Sep 1800. In his Will, he mentions:[6]
