Gibson-23308 and Gibson-4635 are not ready to be merged because: I don't want to fully merge yet because I've discovered information that proves that the Margaret Gibson who married James McAfee is not the same person as the Margaret Gibson who was the daughter of Deborah Jordan & the wife of Walter Gibson. Your Margaret profile links to an image of Deborah Jordan's will that went into probate in 1770. It clearly states that Walter is still living and Margaret goes by Gibson, not McAfee. The children of James McAfee and Margaret Gibson were born in and around the 1730s. There is no way the daughter of Deborah Jordan is the same woman who married James McAfee. In fact, I have a theory backed by DNA evidence that suggests that te Margaret Gibson who married McAfee belonged to the Gibson family of Anson County, NC. I'd like to correct the mistakes before merging to make sure we're not giving people false information. I don't want to include my theory, just take away what isn't true.
It has been long thought that James McAfee married the widow of Walter Gibson when in fact it is the other way around. The fact James McAfee calls Joseph Hardin son inlaw and his daughter Jane is enough to prove that Joseph Hardin had married Jane/Jean daughter of James McAfee. The Wikiphedia article is following numerous web tree's with the marriage date for Joseph Hardin and Jane Gibson of July 8, 1762 in Virginia, nor will it ever be proved. James McAfee's will gives that proof that Jane/Janet Was a McAfee.
This is the daughter of Deborah Jordan nee Singletary. The reason everyone has her as Margaret Hardin Gibson is her son inlaw was Joseph Hardin as named in James McAfee's will and also that Walter Gibson was later Margaret's husband. Margaret is named in the will of Deborah Jordan nee Singletary Devised Sep 4, 1769 and Proved Feb 14, 1770.
