Hilda was born in Oregon in 1902 to Hugh Gibson and Ella Maude Duvall. Her father moved the family to California by 1910, where she lived until after she married.
Hilda married twice, the first time around age 18 to Charles Otto Schneider. Her husband moved the family back to Oregon by 1920, but by 1925, they had returned to California. She divorced Charles and remarried sometime after 1935 to Clarence Dum Garrett. Hilda passed away in 1979 at 77 years old.
