When Jerusha Gibson was born in 1821 in Indiana, her father, Barnabas, was 44 and her mother, Joyce, was 38. She married Stephen D. Bankson on April 27, 1839, in Fayette, Illinois. They had eight children in 20 years. She died in 1896 in Lincoln, Washington, having lived a long life of 75 years, and was buried there.
