Funeral services for Dr. Mitchell O. Gibson, 56, of 802 N. Second St., are scheduled for 5 p.m. Sunday in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Sidney Spain will officiate and interment will follow in Glendale Cemetery.
Dr. Gibson died Saturday morning in a local hospital after a long illness.
He was born July 1, 1908, at Huntsville, and had resided in Lufkin for 53 years. He was a graduate of Baylor University and Arkansas Medical School. He was a member of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge and the First Christian Church; he was an active worker in the Boy Scouts of America and a past vice president of the Texas Medical Association.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Christine Gibson; sons, Benjamin F. Gibson of Palo Alto, Ca., Joseph Lee Gibson of Cambridge, Mass., and Tim Gibson of Exetor, NH; sisters, Mrs. L. H. Gray of Tyler and Miss Ruth Gibson of Lufkin.
