Henry Gibson was born about 1856 in Edingley, Nottinghamshire, England, United Kingdom, son of George Gibson (~1829–1901) and Mary Whitworth (~1829–1919). Henry, was baptised on 12 October 1856 in Edingley, St. Giles, Nottinghamshire, England.[1][2]
In 1861, Henry (4) was living in household of George Gibson (31) in Edingley in Southwell registration district in Nottinghamshire, England. Born in Edingley with his parents, George (31) and Mary (31); and his siblings, Ann (3), John (1), and Joseph Twitle (45). [2]
In the 1871 census Henry (age 15) was the son of George Gibson in Normanton, Southwell, Nottinghamshire, England.[3]

Henry (22) married Margaret Elizabeth Dent (24) (born on July 26, 1855 in Connelly's Bush, St George, New South Wales; daughter of George Richard Dent and Elizabeth (Parkes) Dent) on October 21, 1879 in Saint Peters, Sydney, New South Wales.[4] [5]

Henry died on July 2, 1943 in Waverley, New South Wales, Australia, aged about 86.[6]

At the grand old age of 86 years the death occurred on Friday last, 2nd July, at the residence of his daughter (Mrs G. H. Perry, 21 Leichhardt Street, Waverley), of Mr Henry Gibson, who was more familarly known locally as "Gibby."
The late Mr Gibson took his departure from Gilgandra in 1920 to reside in the city, and had resided there since. In the 18 or '20 years he was resident of our town he took a prominent part in public affairs, and at various times was president of the District Hospital Committee and Gilgandra Jockey Club, and was an active member of the Progress Association. He was noted for his regularity in attendance at meetings, and seldom missed one. His interest did not end there, for if there was work to be done "Gibby" would do it.
Prior to the establishment of the hospital here, deceased was a prominent worker for the Dubbo Hospital.
The late Mr. Gibson was also a prominent member of the Masonic Lodge, being a foundation member of Lodge Warrumbungle No. 277. He was one of those instrumental in the forming of the lodge here.
During the years spent in Gilgandra, deceased was associated with the saw milling industry, being manager of the local, mill (now owned by Messrs. R. J. Nelson and Sons Ltd.) when it was owned by the late Mr Tom Jones, of "Merrigal."
Deceased's wife predeceased him by four years but he Is survived by one daughter and three sons, viz.: Mrs. G. H. Perry, Waverley; Mr. Arthur Gibson. Kew, North Coast; Mr. Bert Gibson, Gilgandra; and Mr. George Gibson, Jervis Bay.
The funeral took place on Monday morning, to Eastern Suburbs Crematorium.
