The manors of Itchel and Cove were acquired by Walter Giffard after 1243. He was elected Bishop of Bath and Wells on 22 May 1264, and two years later was translated to the archiepiscopal see of York. [1]
Walter was the Archbishop of York from 1266-1279.
Walter Giffard died in 1279, and his Crondall estates were inherited by his brother Godfrey Giffard, Bishop of Worcester.[1]
