Biography

John Gilbert was born on May 23, 1807, in Frederick, Maryland, the son of Jeremiah Gilbert and Zipporah Powell. He married Anna Long on November 1, 1830, in Union, Indiana. They had nine children in 14 years. He died on October 10, 1844, in Fulton, Illinois, at the age of 37, and was buried in Miami, Indiana.
