Biography

Joseph Ransom Gilbert was born on 26 Oct 1878 in Savannah, Hardin County, Tennessee, United States, son of John Andrew Gilbert and Susan Caroline (Alexander) Gilbert.

Joseph (24) married Allie Maud Smith (18) on 18 Dec 1902 in Lunenburg, Izard County, Arkansas. Their children were:

He (~72) was married to Grace Olive Richardson (~70) in 1951.

He died on 10 Sep 1956 in Guion, Izard County, Arkansas aged 77. He is buried in Melbourne Cemetery, Melbourne, Arkansas.^[1]^[2]

Obituary

Joseph Ransom Gilbert, 77 died at his home in Guion Wednesday, September 5. He was born in Tennessee but had lived in the Guion Community for 60 years.

He was a deacon in the Missionary Baptist Church.

He leaves his wife, four sons, four daughters and two sisters.

Funeral services were held at Melbourne with Rev. Hugh Cooper and Bro. George Roberts of Rosie officiating. Burial was in the Melbourne Cemetery.^[3]
