Biography
Alfred was born about 1865. He is the son of William Gilbert and Ann Te Marino. His mother was full-blooded Maori and the sister of the Rangatira Takatahara of Onawe Pa. [1]
Alfred was in a directory in 1892-1893 in Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand. He has premises in Andover St and is an Insurance Agent for Mutual Life Ass. [2]

No birth record for an Albert Gilbert with these parents but Maori did not have to legally register birth's until 1911 and his mother was full-blooded Maori.
