DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

I'm going to add a daughter to this profile, "Mary Gilbert" who was the wife of Nathaniel Norcross. Sources are:

If it's a problem, please let me know via comments on Nathaniel Norcross-23. Thanks.

Julie: He had a brother Jonathan. The ambiguity over DNA is discussed here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Gilbert_Name_Study_-_DNA_Lineage_04

His profiles shows a different haplogroup than his father. Is he connected to the wrong family?

There is also already a son -- Jonathan -- connected to this family. The sources for Jonathan are fleshed out, and his dates don't match with this profile.
