DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Henry by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Henry:

From what I remember this merge was first suggested in July of 2016. I know I was in favor of it then. I'm not sure what happened to that merge.

Gilbert-2994 and Gilbert-349 appear to represent the same person because: Same date - Refer to comments on both profiles
The proposed merge between Gilbert-349 and Gilbert-2994 should be approved. Both of these profiles are for Henry Gilbert, whose first wife was Dorcas Ballou. Here is the entry on Dorcas Ballou on page 254 of the 1888 book "Ballous in America":

"[254.] DORCAS Ballou', Amariah, Nathaniel, James, Maturin' ; b. in Cumberland, R. I., Mar. 30, 1754; m. Henry Gilbert of Partridgefield, soon after Peru, Mass. They had several chn., of whose names only the following have reached us, viz., Lucy, Hepsie, Hannah, Lydia and Donner. We have made much fruitless research to trace this family, and must abandon it. Mrs. Dorcas (Ballou) Gilbert is said to have d. in 1805. This descent closed."

On pages 262-263 of The Gilbert Family by Homer Worthington Brainard there are 8 children listed and are now shown in Gilbert-349 bio. Further research can now be made through the Domer Gilbert (1789-1854) line. This is new information that you may be interested in. I have considerable Gilbert family information for this line.
