Biography

Roxanna Gilbert was born in New Lebanon, New York. She married Loring Snow in about 1816 and they had eight children together, including their youngest: Nicholas Mortimer Snow, who died at age 7 and was buried in Freeport, Illinois.

4. Abijah Loring Frederic Mortimer Snow b: 29 feb 1825 in Hamilton, New York
5. Charles Phelps Snow b: 22 JUL 1829 in Hamilton, New York
6. Ellen Snow b: 6 MAR 1832
7. John Vernon Snow b: JUN 1837 in Loran, Massachusetts
8. Nicholas Mortimer Snow (ca. 1838)

Roxanna and her husband moved their family from Hamilton, New York, first to Massachusetts in the mid 1830s and then to Illinois in 1838. In July 1840, he built the Silver Creek House farm near Freeport, Stephenson County, Illinois. Roxanna died there in February 1856 and was buried in the family plot in the Freeport City Cemetery, Illinois.
