Alexander was born about 1863. He is the son of Henry Gilbert and Helen Robertson. [1]
In the 1871 census Alexander (age 7), Scholar, was the son of Helen Gilbert at 124, Townmill Road, Springburn, High Church, Lanarkshire, Scotland.[2]
Alexander arrived at Otago on 24 January 1879 on the ship Taranaki[3]
Alexander passed away on 1 August 1901 at Dunedin,[4]
