I approved the merge of Gilbert-20111 (37876942) and Gilbert-467 (00929053), despite the differing dates, which need to be resolved. Further, there is a problem with a duplication of the children of Gilbert-467. Namely, the listed Martha Patsy (Gilbert) Pendleton and Martha H. (Gilbert) Pendleton are both listed as children and both profiles are the spouse of Coleman Pendleton-4737.

Coleman Pendleton was born Aug 04, 1780, in Culpeper Co., Va., and died May 31, 1862 in Tallapoosa Co., AL. He married MARTHA GILBERT Jun 06, 1808, in Putnam Co., GA, daughter of BENJAMIN GILBERT and HANNAH BUTLER. She was born May 31, 1789, in Hancock Co., GA, and died Aug 06, 1874, in Tallapoosa Co., AL. Coleman Pendleton is listed in the 1824 Putnam Co., GA Tax List and the 1850 Harris Co.., GA, Dowdell's District, census, as well as the 1860 census, Chambers Co., AL. A biographical sketch (Ref. 115) of Coleman is included in the Virginia Historical Society Catalog.

The children of COLEMAN PENDLETON and MARTHA GILBERT are: i. LOUISA EMILY PENDLETON, b. 1809, GA; d. May 10, 1881, Chambers Co., AL. ii. WILLIAM ROBERT PENDLETON, b. Mar 09, 1811, Putnam Co., GA; d. Jul 07, 1841, Baker Co., GA. iii. PHILIP COLEMAN PENDLETON, b. Nov 17. 1812, Eatonville, GA; d. Jun 19, 1869, Valdosta, GA. GA·d J iv. EDMUND MONROE PENDLETON, b. Mar 19, 1815, Eatonton, GA., died Jan. 26, 1884, Atlanta, GA.

Alan, I am at a brick wall in the Gilbert family. My great grandfather was James Lamar Gilbert was born 1827, Putnam County Georgia. He married Rebecca McClure July 19, 1848, in Marengo County, Alabama. I have all kinds of documents starting with his marriage. We have been unable to verify James Lamar Gilbert's parents. So researchers in my family show his father to be Robert Reese Gilbert, son of Benjamin F. Gilbert from Georgia, but do not show how this was determined. No verification documents. Have you run across a James Lamar Gilbert in your research? He ended up in Birmingham, Alabama after the Civil War. James Lamar was a prosperious bootmaker who had two sons, also boot and harness makers. Robert Asbury Gilbert and James William Gilbert (my grandfather). Thanks for any information you can share.
