Biography

Walter Oliver Gilbert was born 03 Mar 1896 in Preble County, Ohio to James and Mary Jane (Wolf) Gilbert[1][2] By 1910, his mother was a widow and they were living in Perry, Montgomery, Ohio.[3]

During World War I he served in Battery D 322 Field Artillery until 28 Sept 1917; Medical Department Base Hospital Cp Sherman Ohio until his Discharge. He made Private, first class 17 Dec 1917, and was Honorably Discharged 7 Apr 1919.[4]

He died 28 Dec 1987 [5]

He died 28 December 1987 in St. Petersburg, Pinellas County, Florida at age 91, and was buried 1 January 1988 in Sugar Grove Cemetery, Preble County, Ohio. Walter married Frances Louise JOHNSON 12 June 1920 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio. Frances was born 8 January 1897 in Port William, Clinton County, Ohio, the daughter of Thomas Corwin and Mary Etta (Stephens) Johnson. She died 21 February 1983 in Hernando County, Florida, at age 86.
