1790 census Plaistow, Rockingham Co. NH; has TWO Ruth Gile as head of family -1 with 2 males over 16, 3 males under 16, 2 females; and 1 marked Ruth jr.with 1 male over 16, 4 males under 16, and 2 females. The Ruth Giles are identified as the widow of Nathan,(#184), the first one.The second is the widow of Stephen (#188) - she is the younger of the two. Burleigh records on Nathan are incomplete and if the first Ruth is wife ofNathan, there are more children than the 2 shown.
Mass. Sold. & Sailors in Rev. War, p. 427, says "Gile, Nathan. Private, Capt.Joseph Thompson's (1st) co., Lieut. Col. Thomas Nixon's (4th) regt.; regimentalreturn dated North Castle, Nov. 9, 1776; also same co. and regt., receipts forwages Sept. - Dec. 1776."
Revolutionary War Rolls, NH - p. 532, shows Nathan Gile Private in Capt.Daniel Gordon's Co. Col. David Gilman's NH Regt. Jan 5 to March 15, 1777,reinforce army at New York. On p. 398, Nathan Gile is shown in Captain EzekielGile's Company of Volunteers who marched from Plaistow in the State of NewHampshire and join'd the Northern Continental Army at Saratoga October 1777.Entered 28 Sep 1777, discharged 8 Nov. 1777.
Ancestral File shows a son b. abt 1762.
