@NI963@ NOTE/Burleigh #737.>A descendant reports that Leslie married Annette Weaver, of Amish - German descent, who was an excellent cook and family disciplinarian. Leslie was a charming man who could play most any musical instrument and sang well, improvising or making up songs as he sang. They entertained a great deal. From a newspaper article on their 50th wedding anniversary in 1939 -"Members of the family have been noted for years for their musical ability and the program Sunday was a most enjoyable one, many of the numbers bringing back memories of other years."

 !1905 state census - shows father and mother Aaron & Christiana living with them, children Frank, William, Marie, Merlyn, Verne, Earl, Teddy. Leslie's occupation Farmer. Children all students.
 !1920 census Sharon, Walworth Co. WI age 52, b. WI, name Leslie W. Giles, with wife Nettie C., sons Merlyn, Verne, Earl, Thodore, Robert; daus. Leah, Jeanette.
 !Conversation with wife of grandson, Floyd Herbert Gile, P.O. Box 155, Patoka, IN 47666, res ph 1-812-779-5228 2/28/90 confirmed identity. She said he married Annette Weaver of Amish - German descent, who was an excellent cook and family disciplinarian. They had many children. Leslie was a charming man who could play most any musical instrument and sang well, improvising or making up songs as he sang. They entertained a great deal.
 !Newspaper article on their 50th wedding anniversary in 1939, also says "Members of the family have been noted for years for their musical ability and the program Sunday was a most enjoyable one, many of the numbers bringing back memories of other years." Says they lived for one year at Avon, then moved to Sharon where they have lived since. 12 children were born, 9 living as of 1939.
