Richard Giles (Jnr).^[1]

Ann’s eldest son, Richard, worked on Teebar for quite a few years. He married Mary Ann Ingram and they had five children. His wife died in 1885, soon after the birth of their fifth child John, who also died.

About 1887, Richard married Susan Hayward Smith whose family came from Victoria and, at the time, were engaged in ringbarking on Teebar. Susan’s father, who had been an old windjammer sailor, was working within a few miles of Glenrowan when the Kelly drama took place.

Richard & Susan had a family of five, including Richard III, who, in 1981 was 90 and living in Gayndah. He remembered John Eaton from when they lived at Teebar & also recalled an old aboriginal called King Peter and his wife Kitty, who lived on the station at the time.

Richard was a member of the Eaton Eleven cricket team. He and his wife Jessie nee Sanderson, at one time had a small property at Mt Steadman near Mingo Crossing & when they moved on, made the property over to Richard’s parents.

Richard II died on 6th July 1938 when nearly 86 years old & his second wife Susan on 1st December 1946 aged 85. They are both buried in Degilbo Cemetery
