Note: EPHRAIM GILES5 (Moses,4 Joseph,3 James,2 Samuel1), son of Moses and Mary (Heath) Gile, He was a farmer at Chester, Windsor, Vt., but after the death of his wife, went to Windham to live with one of his sons. While on a visit to his son Ephraim in New York state, he was taken with a fit and died. In some way about 1788 he allowed an s to be added to his name.

1800 census Grafton, Windham Co. VT, name Epraim Guile, 32010-11110-00
LDS IGI shows Giles, used that for him. Also shows Gile.
Mar, 1839 there is an (E)Rastus Giles from Windsor Co. VT in Boone Co. IL.
Automated Archives - Pre-1790 Windsor Co. VT page 99, lists Ephraim Gile as aPetitioner, along with bros. Nathan and Stephen.
In VT History file, "Pawlet for One Hundred Years" there is a Family Sketch onEbenezer Giles, and Braman F. Giles son of Ephraim Giles, and grand son ofE benezer Giles. I see no connection.
