Biography

Edna C Gillespie was enumerated as daughter of the head of household in Precincts 13, 16 Whites, Selfville, Blount County, Alabama for the June 7, United States Census, 1900. She was noted as born November 1891 in Alabama, single and at school. Also included in the household are head Ira P Gillespie, wife Eunice C Gillespie, daughter Lizzie A Gillespie, son Ophus Gillespie, daughter Mary B Gillespie and daughter Maybelle Gillespie as seen in an image of the original census.[1]

Edna C Gillespie was enumerated as daughter of the head of household at Self, Blount County, Alabama for the April 26, United States Census, 1910. She was noted as born 1892 in Alabama and single. She was a farm laborer on a home farm as seen in the image of the original census. Also included in the household are head Ira P Gillespie, wife Eunice C Gillespie, daughter Mary B Gillespie, daughter Mabel Gillespie and son Howell Gillespie.[2]

Edna Cornelia Gillespie wed John Harrison Roper May 1, 1910 in Blount County, Alabama.[3]

Edna C Roper was enumerated as wife of the head of household at 7526 Division Avenue, Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama for the April 9, United States Census, 1930. She was noted as born 1892 in Alabama and married. She was first married at the age of eighteen. She was a saleslady (grocery store) as seen in an image of the original census. Also included in the household are head John H Roper, son John H Roper Jr. and daughter Marjorie J Roper.[5]

Edna C. Gillespie was listed as the mother of John Roper who died November 6, 1931 in Tuscaloosa, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. The father was listed as John H. Roper.[6]

On April 1, 1935, Edna Roper lived in 7526 Division Avenue, Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama.[7]
