A 3 1/2 year old Cape Girardeau child lost his fight for life against a kidney ailment with which he had been ill for a year. Little Gerald Lee Gillespie, son of Mr and Mrs Clyde Gillespie, 803 Themis Street, died at 5 o'clock Sunday afternoon in Children's Hospital in St. Louis.
A few weeks ago several employees of the Davis Electric Co., where the boys father works, went to St Louis to give blood transfusions to the youngster. Gerald had been in Childrens Hospital since May 11, 1949, with nephritis.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Walthier Funeral Home by Rev CE Mount, pastor the Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Besides his parents, the child is survived by his maternal grandmother, Mrs Lawrence E Rhoades of the Themis St. address and his paternal grandparents, Mr and Mrs Fred Gillespie of Vienna. He was a nephew of Mr and Mrs Lloyd Lalumandier, 21 South Henderson Avenue
