Biography

Asa W Gillespie was enumerated at Carnesville Post Office, Franklin County, Georgia for the June 15, United States Census, 1860. He was noted as born 1852 in Georgia as seen in the image of the original census. Also included in the household are male Milton W Gillespie, female Malissa H Gillespie, female Barthena E Gillespie, male Jefferson H Gillespie, female Harriet A Gillespie, male Patterson C Gillespie, female Charity M Gillespie, female Cordelia L Gillespie, female Jane A Gillespie and male William B Gillespie.[1]

Asa W Gillaspie was enumerated at Middle River, 812 District, Franklin County, Georgia for the June 16, United States Census, 1870. He was noted as born 1853-1854 in Georgia and a farm laborer as seen in this image of the original census. Also included in the household are male Milton Gillaspie, female Malipa Gillaspie, female Berthema Gillaspie, female Harriet A Gillaspie, female Cardelia Gillaspie, female Jane A Gillaspie, male William Gillaspie, male Milton Gillaspie, female Martha Galaway, male Asa N Galaway, male John H Galaway, male William Galaway and male Leonidas Galaway.[2]

A W Gillespie was enumerated as head of the household at Gainesville and Carnesville Road, Dooley, Franklin County, Georgia for the April 28, United States Census, 1910. He was noted as born 1854 in Georgia and had been married sixteen years (This marriage was noted as his second). He was a farmer on a general farm and an owner as seen in the image of the original census. Also included in the household are wife Susie E Gillespie, son Erastus F Gillespie, son Luther C Gillespie, daughter Alice M Gillespie, daughter Emma B Gillespie, son Lay B Gillespie, son Wain Gillespie and son Jasel I Gillespie.[3]

A W Gillespie was listed as the father of Asa Milton Gillespie who died May 19, 1928 in Carnesville, Franklin County, Georgia. The wife was listed as Pamie Gillespie.[4]

Asa Welborn 'Doc' Gillespie is buried at Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery in Carnesville, Franklin County, Georgia.[5]
