Biography
Gawn Gillespie was born about 1753 in Ireland. He passed away in 1844 in Indiana.[1]
Gawn died in May 1844 at the age of 91 years, and was buried in Meloy Cemetery, Charletown, Clark County, Indiana.[1]

Origins
His FindAGrave memorial provides the following leads:
- It is currently believed that Gawn arrived in Charleston, S.C. from Larne, Ireland aboard the ship Irish Volunteer on Dec. 24, 1792. Albeit the passenger list for this particular voyage is yet unfound. The earliest known document we have of Gawn is the 1800 Census for York County, SC. Gawn moved with his family to Clark County, Indiana around the year 1818.
Alternate names of Guyan (1800) and Gian (1810) appear to be based on US Federal Census records for York District, South Carolina. Spratlin-29 15:43, 29 April 2022 (UTC)

He was previously attached to unsourced parent John Robert Gillespie (abt.1725-1797). This parent is inconsistent with his migration described in the FindAGrave memorial.
