Biography

Carter was born about 1835. He was the son of Jackson Gillespie and Mary Poeter. He passed away in 1863.

Carter was a Captain Company D. 65th Reg. 6th Calvary, NC. commissioned July 15, 1862. Carter was taken prisoner at Simpson's Ford, Ky. June 03, 1963, He died on Sept. 09, 1863 in Confederate Prison in Sandusky Ohio. He died in 1863. [1]
