James L Gillespie was enumerated at District No. 32, Franklin County, Georgia for the October 18, United States Census, 1850. He was noted as born 1806 in Georgia. He was a farmer and had $1400 of value in real estate as seen in this image of the original census. Also included in the household are female Elizabeth Gillespie, male Asbury Gillespie, female Frances P Gillespie, female Malinda F Gillespie, female Mary P Gillespie, male Graves B Gillespie, female Elizabeth A Gillespie, female Nancy Ann Gillespie, female (male) Veonye [George] Gillespie, male James M Gillespie and male John M Gillespie.[1]

James L Gillespie was enumerated at Post Office Carnesville, Franklin County, Georgia for the June 26, United States Census, 1860. He was noted as born 1806 in Georgia. He was a teacher (com. school) and had $500 in value of personal estate as seen in the image of the original census. Also included in the household are female Elizabeth Gillespie, female Malinda P Gillespie, female Nancy C Gillespie, male George P Gillespie, male James M Gillespie and male Rudolph S Gillespie.[2]
